Course of Construction/Builder's Risk Coverage

Course of Construction/Builder's Risk Coverage

Course of Construction / Builder’s Risk Insurance protects construction projects against financial losses arising from damage to buildings, materials, equipment, and project-related property during the course of construction, renovation, or installation.

Coverage is designed to support financial stability and project continuity when covered events impact work in progress before final completion.

Coverage typically responds to losses involving fire, theft, vandalism, water damage, weather-related events, accidental damage, or other covered causes of loss affecting structures under construction, temporary works, materials, and equipment located on-site or in transit.

Coverage may also include protection for soft costs, project delay exposures, temporary structures, testing and commissioning activities, debris removal, and certain additional expenses arising from covered construction-related losses.

For multinational organizations and cross-border projects, Builder’s Risk coverage may be coordinated through a Controlled Master Program (CMP), such as the WMB Global Risks Global Master Program, with locally admitted policies where required to support coordinated project protection, regulatory compliance, and consistent coverage standards across jurisdictions.

Course of Construction / Builder’s Risk Insurance is designed to help organizations protect construction investments, reduce financial disruption, and maintain continuity throughout the project lifecycle.
